Garry Knox Bennett (1934 - 2022) an internationally known furniture maker is currently represented by Momentum Gallery, Winfield Gallery, Transmission Gallery and Gallery NAGA. While Garry's work is now finite, there are some exceptions with work designated as "editions", limited numbers may still be available. Garry's work is represented in many major private collections and his work is included in the permanent collections of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts; Mint Museum of Art & Design, NC; Museum of Art & Design, NYC; Atlanta Museum of Art; Montreal Museum of Art; The Oakland Museum, CA; LACMA Museum, CA; Racine Art Museum, WI; SFMOMA, CA; Smithsonian American Art Museum; Victoria & Albert Museum, UK; The National Museum of Sweden.

A major retrospective of Garry's work was initiated at the Museum of Art and Design, NY (formerly the America Craft Museum) in January 2001 which included a venue at the Oakland Museum in California. The exhibition was documented with an extensive book on Garry's work: "Made in Oakland: The Furniture of Garry Knox Bennett". Copies are still available (contact info@gkb-furniture.com).     Garry taught and lectured extensively in the US as well as Canada, Australia and the UK. Garry received the 2004 Award of Distinction from The Furniture Society and is honored as Fellow of the American Craft Council. In 2011 Garry received the James Renwick Alliance Master of the Medium award in Washington DC.

You will find references and images of Garry's large body of work in almost every book published referencing American Studio Furniture over the past 50 years. Film documentation on Garry and his work has been produced by Craft in America & PBS Spark Programming (for television) and includes an award winning short film by Agnes Bourne. There are many short videos of Garry being interviewed by various organizations etc. Of special note: Garry's infamous piece "The Nail Cabinet" can be searched on Google and it will access an interesting thread of extensive information and interviews etc.
